OCEANS
Hello teachear,i chose the ocean because it is the one that attracted me the most and because I like the colors of the animals that the ocean contains, I wanted to investigate the ocean more.
¿How important is the ocean?
The importance of the oceans is reflected in the conservation of life, not only as a source of resources, but also as a regulatory means, because they allow us to control the temperature of the Earth's surface, absorb CO2 from the atmosphere, produce oxygen and store nutrients ”, Explained the Minister of Environment
The ocean
The oceans are exactly the parts of the planet's surface occupied by seawater that surround the continents and currently cover around 71% of the Earth. There are five oceans on Earth: the Pacific, the Atlantic, the Indian, the Antarctic and the Arctic. These bodies of water formed around 4 billion years ago, when the planet's temperature cooled enough to allow the water to be in a liquid state.
Ocean or sea water is composed of sodium, chlorine, magnesium, calcium and potassium for the most part.
The depth of each ocean depends on its ocean relief areas, but in general it does not exceed 4 kilometers. In turn, the oceans are divided into different layers according to their depth: a temperate zone that reaches up to 500 meters and that has a temperature between 12 ° and 30 ° C and then a colder zone that has temperatures that can go up to 1 ° C. Of course, these temperatures vary according to the season of the year and the location of the ocean with respect to the poles.
How can we save the oceans?
1. Think about your carbon footprint and reduce your energy consumption
Reduce the effects of climate change on the oceans by becoming aware of your energy use at home and at work. You can start by exchanging home light bulbs for energy saving bulbs and leaving your car at home whenever you can.
2. Make sustainable decisions regarding seafood
Global fish stocks have declined due to demand, habitat loss, and unsustainable fishing practices. When you buy or consume, it helps reduce the demand for over-exploited species by deciding on food that is healthy and sustainable.
3. Decrease the use of plastics to care for the oceans
Plastics that end up as trash in the oceans contribute to habitat destruction, in addition to trapping and killing thousands of marine animals per year. To limit your impact, take reusable water bottles with you, store your food in non-disposable containers, carry your own cloth or other bag when you go shopping, and recycle whenever possible. tips to take care of the oceans
4. Help take care of the beaches
Whenever you enjoy swimming, surfing, or just relaxing on the beach, clean up your debris. Explore and appreciate the ocean without interfering with wildlife, and never remove rocks or coral.
